We always keep adding various types of queries for your OSINT investigation needs. You never know what might come in handy, until you actually start getting first results of your investigation. So, today we will briefly describe how to get information about aircraft as well as its flight history.

Lampyre has a request that searches for flights tracks by plane tail number. To find it among others, just start typing in “flights”, and then select this one:

The only input you need is aircraft’s tail number:

This query will generate three data tables:

Basic tail number info will show you the airline that has this aircraft in its fleet, aircraft type and engine type:

Flights table will list the coordinates, speed, course and altitude linked to date and time as well as flight ID they belong to. This information is collected from publicly available flight tracking resources and covers flight history for up to last 3 months:

Of course, you can put them on the map for visual analysis. The numbers under aircraft icons show how many times this aircraft has been located in this area of the map. In this example, we have an airline based in Hong Kong, and its main hub is obviously located there, that’s why we see the highest number near this area. Zoom it in, or filter the displayed positions using timeline to get more precise detail:

You can also put several planes at once on the map. This can be useful, for instance, in researching routes and destinations by filtering them by a single date.

Last but not least, Lampyre even collects the pictures of an aircraft with the given tail number, just like this:

Now as you know how to easily investigate flights in Lampyre, it’s time to try it yourself. Cheers!
